Bio
Beginnings
I am an aspiring amateur photographer who was turned on to it late in life. I was born in El Paso Texas formerly known as "El Paso del Río del Norte" where the first Thanksgiving was held in the U. S. by Spanish explorer Juan de Oñate in 1598. In 1964, my family was transplanted from the sun baked adobes of New Mexico to the frigid plains of Illinois. My introduction into photography was accidental and morbid, to say the least. I was a forensic nurse examiner and wanted to learn more about how to use an SLR camera. That was eight years ago and I have not put it down since then. My latest interests have been exploring narrative/documentary photography as it relates to death monuments on roadsides and local mural art of San Diego---where I live.
I hope to become a documentary and fine art photographer to inspire young and "second career" people. In my spare time I am raising a teenager, a husband, a brother, three cats and work as a nurse practitioner in a community health clinic.
